With playful gravitas, Dr. Wendy Shumway brings a rich understanding of human nature to her coaching where she supports high-achieving service professionals as they set their work on fire.  Using deep self-exploration to connect to their passion and inspiration, clients become equipped to lead and thrive in their daily work realm, to achieve greater professional and financial success and to increase their personal and relational satisfaction. Known affectionately to her clients as ‘the fire-starter’, Wendy guides and holds space for them as they map their internal landscape, discovering what ignites their passion for work, life and being.  Drawing upon her well-honed intuition and her extensive medical and psychotherapeutic background, Wendy helps her clients learn how to master their thinking, allowing them to step out into their lives as highly skilled and conscious individuals.   Not only do they develop the clarity, confidence and capacity needed to be resilient when meeting life’s unending parade of change, they also, more importantly, have the ability to go beyond resilient.  They lead.  They create the work and life they desire.  They thrive.  

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND...

Dr. Shumway graduated summa cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a BA in psychology and received her MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where she also completed residencies in pediatrics and adult psychiatry and a fellowship in child psychiatry.  In her 30 years of medical practice, Dr. Shumway has worked in variety of settings and with a range of patients.  Her love has been psychotherapeutic work with individuals and groups, facilitating their healing journeys which ultimately connected her to her own passion:  supporting others to take the leap and pursue what lights them up.  Over the last decade, this passion has intensified, first leading Wendy to offer trainings and workshops focused on growth and development and then in 2011, to found In-vision Seminars, a company devoted to personal and professional evolution.  Still being called, it became clear that she was to dedicate herself completely to this path of helping people create ignited work experiences.  To that end, Dr. Shumway completed her professional coach training through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching and became an Energy Leadership Index-Master Practitioner. In 2015, Invision Seminars expanded to become Invision Consulting, Coaching and Seminars.  Through Invision Consulting, Coaching and Seminars, Wendy works nationally connecting with service-based professionals and organizations to help them move beyond surviving to get to thriving as she does not accept that coping is the best we can do.

OUTSIDE OF WORK...

When she is not working, Wendy most likely will be found in nature or up to her elbows in some new creative exploration.  Her love of patterns and connections provides endless opportunities for her curiosity to take her on adventures.  As a new empty nester, she looks forward to more playtime involving music, nature, photography and travel, along with more lap time for her two Siamese cats, Mario and Luigi.
